Detailed 3 days Murchison falls safari itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
Set out early in the morning from Kampala to drive the six hours to Murchison Falls. Along the way, make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which is home to more than 30 white rhinos, in the Nakasongora district. Go for a naure walk with a knowledgeable ranger and get up close to rhinos. A portion of the money you pay here will support the conservation efforts of Rhino Fund Uganda, which aims to bring rhinos back to Uganda’s protected areas.
Afterwards, continue and pass through the southern entrance gate of Kacumbanyobo to reach Murchison Falls.
Your safari officially starts as you pass through the Budongo forest; you will start seeing wildlife such as baboons and patas monkeys. The walk to the top of the falls is another exciting experience on the way before reaching your accommodation. The Murchison falls site is dramatic as the Nile River tumbles over 45-meter cliff and squeezes through a 6-meter-wide narrow gorge with a thunderous into the devil’s cauldron creating a trademark rainbow. Proceed and cross the recently built bridge to reach the park’s best spot for seeing wildlife, the north banks of the Nile. Check into your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
Following a cup of African tea, you will set out on an early morning game drive into the borassus palm dotted savanna wilderness. With good luck, you might spot the Big Four mammals which include elephants, buffalo, lions, and leopards. Your guide will spare time for you to get out of the vehicle at the Albert-Nile delta. Relax as you enjoy the view and spot wildlife around such as warthogs, buffaloes, and birds.
Return for lunch and proceed to Paara for the boat safari that will take you along Victoria Nile all the way to the base of the waterfalls. The 3-hour cruise offers an opportunity to enjoy natural beauty and spot vast herds of elephants, giraffes, and cape buffaloes as they quench their thirst in the afternoon scotching sun, as well as hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a plethora of birds.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
There will be time for a last game drive to try and spot some of the mammals you may have missed and then enjoy a hot breakfast. Your driver will then drive you back to Kampala city. End of 3 days Murchison falls safari.
