Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe – “the gateway to Uganda”

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet and greet with your knowledgeable and friendly safari guide. You will then transfer to your hotel in Entebbe for overnight.

Day 2: Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park – “A wildlife Paradise”

Depart from Entebbe after your breakfast and drive to Murchison Falls National Park approximately 5-6 hours’ drive. You will stop in Nakasongora district known for its cattle farms and ranches at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino Tracking. You might spot herds of Ankole Long-horned cattle, an iconic Ugandan breed of cows, have lunch on your way and thereafter proceed to the park.

Meet the Lush green countryside as you pass through picturesque villages, fertile farmlands, showcasing Uganda’s agricultural heritage. You will catch a glimpse of primates like Monkeys as you drive through Budongo forest, a tropical rainforest home to Chimpanzees, Monkeys and a variety of bird species. On arrival to the park, you will have a breathtaking sight of the top view of Murchison waterfalls. From this vintage point, you will be able to witness and listen to the sounds of the strongest waterfalls in the world of the mighty river Nile Compressing through a narrow gorge. Proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game drive at Murchison Falls and Boat Cruise

After a hearty breakfast, embark on an enchanting early morning game drive adventure, exploring the vast Savannah landscapes of Murchison Falls National Park. Your experienced guide will navigate the terrain, tracking the Big Five (Lions, Leopards, Rhinoceros, Elephants and Buffalos), hyenas, Giraffes, other exotic wildlife. Return to your lodge for a leisurely lunch and some relaxation time. In the afternoon, embark on a tranquil boat cruise along River Nile gliding past the base of the Waterfalls.

This offers you an unforgettable experience that comes with a bottom view of the thunderous waterfalls running through the narrow gorge, up close encounter with hippos in the water, crocodiles, an array of bird species, a serene and peaceful atmosphere as you soak up the natural beauty of the surroundings. As the sun begins to set, return to your lodge for overnight and dinner, filled with memories of an unforgettable day in Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 4: From Murchison to Kibale Forest National Park

Transfer from Murchison to Kibale National Park early morning after a delightful breakfast at your lodge. Embark on a scenic journey nestled in the Albertine Rift approximately 5 hour’s drive which takes you through the villages showcasing Uganda’s rural charm, the rift Valley escarpment, the tranquil town of Fortportal, with its colonial-era architecture and bustling markets plus the stunning Kibale Forest, a home to an incredible array of primates, birds and flora. Keep an eye on the graceful antelopes and curious monkeys and colorful birds like the vibrant Turacos. You will have dinner and overnight at your lodge surrounded by the sights and sounds of the tropical forest.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Habituation adventure at Kibale National Park

Chimpanzee habituation at Kibale National Park is a unique and thrilling experience that allows you to observe and interact with these intelligent and social creatures in their natural habitat. The habituation process involves training the Chimpanzees to become comfortable with human presence, allowing them to have an immersive and unforgettable experience. Begin the day with an early morning briefing from the park rangers and guides who will provide insight into Chimpanzee behavior, habitat and habituation process.

Embark on a guided trek through the lush Kibale Forest, searching for the Chimpanzee group designated for habituation. The trek may take several hours depending on the location and movement of the Chimpanzees. Once they are located, the guides will lead you to a safe a comfortable viewing distance where you can observe them and take their photos.

You will then spend several hours observing the Chimpanzees, learning about their behavior, social dynamics and habitat. The guides will provide commentary insights, enhancing your understanding and appreciation of these incredible creatures that share 90% of their DNA with humans. Enjoy a picnic meal in the Forest and continue observing them potentially witnessing exciting behaviors like tool use, hunting and social interactions. Return to your lodge reflecting on the unforgettable experience and encounters with the Chimpanzees after they have prepared their nests for their night’s sleep.

Day 6: Travel back Home

Early morning, your Safari guides will pick you up and depart for Entebbe International Airport for your Flight back to home. Carry with you the warmth and hospitality of Ugandan people, the stunning natural beauty of the country and the knowledge that will have made a positive impact on the local communities visited.   • The activity typically lasts about 6-8 hours depending on the Chimpanzee group’s location and behavior.
  • The best time for Chimpanzee habituation is during the dry season (December to February and June to August), when the chimps are more active and easier to locate.
  • Visitors must at least be 15 years old to participate in the Chimpanzee habituation.
  • Habituation groups are limited to 6-8 visitors to minimize disturbance to the chimps and ensure a personalized experience.
  • A moderate level of fitness is required as the trekking can be challenging since it involves a steep terrain.
  • Bring a camera with a good zoom lens to capture the moments without disturbing the chimps.
